When serious complaints or allegations arise involving your people, delays create risk.
Schools and non-profits often struggle to respond quickly, fairly, and objectively.
That’s where I step in. Utilising secure video conferencing and document transfer systems, I specialise in helping you get answers faster, at a lower cost and with minimal disruption.
I’m Tim Sterne, a former Detective Sergeant with a background in education. With more than a decade of experience in criminal and civil investigations, I help schools and non-profits across New Zealand conduct investigations everyone can trust.

Remote investigations are suitable for many kinds of allegations and complaints. For example, I've conducted remote investigations into allegations of historic sexual abuse, workplace bullying, privacy breaches, and breaches of professional standards. It depends on sensitivity, the level of interviewing required, and the types of evidence available.
In a remote investigation, everything is done via phone or internet. Interviews are usually conducted over Microsoft Teams or Zoom. Documentary and electronic evidence is transferred by email or on a secure, web-based file-sharing service.
In many cases a remote investigation is just as effective as an in-person investigation for finding the truth in a manner that aligns with the principles of natural justice. These days, people are familiar with video conferencing technology and in some cases are actually more comfortable communicating this way. Having someone from out-of-town investigate also helps you avoid perceptions of bias or conflict of interest.
