Aotearoa New Zealand schools must ensure they are safe and free from behaviours such as racism, discrimination and bullying. When issues arise amongst students – from bullying to harmful sexual behaviours – schools must have transparent processes in place to promptly and thoroughly investigate. Investigations into student behaviour are time-consuming, stressful and are often challenged. An investigation that builds trust and confidence starts with solid leadership.
