Before launching Basalt Solutions, I spent more than a decade in high-stakes investigations as a Detective Sergeant and Tactical Intelligence Officer with the New Zealand Police, following an earlier career in education.

My investigation experience spans the criminal and civil arenas and includes workplace misconduct, health and safety, child protection, sexual offending, disciplinary investigations, fraud, corruption, insider threats, transnational organised crime and national security incidents across New Zealand and Australia. I’ve led investigations requiring a national security clearance and adherence to strict risk management and legal protocols, facilitating cross-border intelligence and evidence-sharing. I have led multi-disciplinary teams comprising intelligence analysts, intelligence officers and forensic accountants. I’ve led multi-agency operations and collaborated with a range of private entities and government agencies. 

In 2024, I launched Basalt Solutions with the aim of applying my tradecraft to help my clients navigate emerging risks and challenges. Basalt Solutions has delivered services across New Zealand and Australia in sectors including education, non-profit, local government and commercial.
