Day and boarding school staff are regularly required to conduct investigations into student behaviour. These investigations are becoming increasingly complex as schools deal with more serious cases of bullying, harmful sexual behaviours, violence, academic misconduct and more.

Like any fact-finding process, the interviewing of everyone involved in these cases is key. A sound interviewing methodology is important if an investigator wants to obtain reliable and accurate information on which decisions are to be based. The interviewing of students is also coming under increased scrutiny.

This course provides an introduction to a simplified version of the PEACE interviewing method. The PEACE model is one of the most widely used investigative interviewing models internationally. It is a rapport-based method supported by science and avoids the pitfalls of accusatory and confrontational approaches.
