Schools

Investigate with confidence

The majority of school staff have never received any formal investigation training. The investigations being handled internally by schools are increasing in seriousness and complexity.

Students are routinely investigated over bullying, sexual assaults, alcohol and drug use and other behaviours with the potential to result in stand down, suspension or expulsion. Human resource teams are investigating allegations of workplace bullying, harassment, health and safety breaches and much more.

School investigations are regularly challenged by parents, lawyers and media. This creates a significant legal and reputational risk.

Our two flagship workshops can be tailored for student or staff investigations, depending on your needs. Both workshops come with a set of investigation checklists and templates for your ongoing use. Our premium package includes the development of customised ‘Standard Investigation Procedures’ for your school – Tim will work with you to create a set of written investigation guidelines for your context.

Interviewing is how you obtain that evidence.  It’s a fundamental skill for any investigator. This workshop provides a practical introduction to the PEACE interviewing method. This framework is considered international best practice. It gives you the best possible chance of obtaining information that is accurate and reliable in a manner that is legally compliant and ethical. Expect case studies, scenarios, and interactive presentation.

  • Conduct legally compliant interviews
  • Avoid memory distortion and contamination
  • Plan and prepare for an interview
  • Ask good questions and avoid dangerous ones
  • Challenge lies and inconsistencies while maintaining relationships
